As mentioned in my other MLBlog, “Executive Cocktails At The Ballpark”, “freak girl” was a term of endearment referring to me, so I used that for the title of this blog. It was available anyway, and I like it as well.

I write about many things but I write sports blogs under the pen name Lucky Marconi. It’s not because I get lucky in betting at sports. “Lucky” was just a name I picked when I was choosing a vibrant and energetic-sounding pen name for my byline in sports-writing. The source for the name is not what you would expect – I got it from the song “Lucky” by Britney Spears – about an actress who has everything in life except love. Yes, I know, it’s NOT a sporty story at all. The writers of the song were inspired by their own guesses as to how someone with so much fame lives her life of being the toast of Hollywood, but without someone by her side. Having mentioned the non-sporty origin of an admittedly spunky name, I AM a sporty girl.

Baseball was one of the sports I used to play the sport as a kid. I’m off with the statistics but we could easily sharpen the saw on that. I can promote the sport baseball because it’s one of the sports I truly love.

When it comes to focus, I lean towards the Minors – “watching the great stars of the future TODAY”. I know I can’t cover the Winter Meetings (and I’ve heard of one of the blog writers who was able to cover that – including seeing logos on ice!) but we can concentrate on other great things. Speaking of Winter Meetings, I bet students who were invited to participate on a rare occasion have some unforgettable stories to tell.

By the way I also love the new theme I tried for this site –  MLB “Fan” – a fitting design for the coming topics of this blog.
